On 8 March – International Women’s Day – UNODC announced a new small grants facility for victims of human trafficking, a symbolic move given that two-thirds of trafficking victims are women and children. Victim support centres can apply for grants from the fund, but a lot more donations are needed.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2011, the United Nations in cooperation with the Bozar, the Goethe-Institute and other partners is organising a screening of “Die Fremde” (When we leave), a film by a young German director called Feo Aladag addressing domestic violence and so called honour killings.
